You guys, so many things had to hsppen to make the SLUTS Anthology come out today. Beth Pickens had to agree to do this massive publishing project with me, because I can[‘t do anything actually functional without her. Hedi El Kholti had to generously offer to let DOPAMINE piggyback on Semiotext(e)’s publishing and distribution - something that I know understand, deeply, I could NOT have don on my own and had any sort of a life beyond it. Faye Orlove had to design an iconic cover. So many dazzling writers had to say YES to my request for something slutty. And we had to have the funds to bring it to life.
So many people have to stepped up and supported our little queer-press dream, everyone from our single queer angel donor to the many artists who donated stuff for us to auction to the people who bid on those goodies. The folks who came to our big fundraiser last summer, the writers who signed up for the benefit workshop I faciitated, those who ordered Dopazines and Vera Blossom’s broad sheet from our web site. And now there is another way you all can support our queer lit dreams, and get a big, slutty treat in the process.
We’ve made a limited-edition SLUTS VIP Boxes which, first, affirm what a Very Important Slut you are, but then, unboxes into a little treasure trove of slutty delight (Slutty D?) Most importantly, a copy of the incredible Sluts Anthology, which I signed obne sunny morning in Beth Pickens’ kitchen. Next, some fucking cute little packets of personal lubricant branded with that hot SLUTS logo, and some books of matches also sporting slutty cuteness. The grand finale? A fricking cum towel - you cannot call this itm a cum rag, no matter how trashy you like to be, because this product is a plush, lush, super-absorbant towel, capable of mopping up your biggest loads! And, it’s printed with art genius Seth Bogart’s stylized iterpretation of our luscious cover. It’s such a freaky, fun box of swag, it’s a mere hundred dollars, and 100% of it goes to help DOPAMINE keep putting really great queer lit into the world! PLEASE consider grabbing a box for you and a loved one!
And - SLUTS are on tour! Tonight, May 7th, we want you to just enjoy the Taurus New Moon, set your intentions and whatnot. We wouldn’t be mad if you wished for eternal financial abundance for DOPAMINE! Tomorrow, May 8th, we’ll be celebrating with an epic reading in Los Angeles at Poetic Research Bureau (actually all the readings are epic!!!!!). Then on May 9th we’ll be at Fabulosa Books in San Francisco - and because I was confused and thought the readings had sold out, I booked a second, later-night reading/after party at Mother, which is great, because I have really been wanting to check out this femme-centric queer hotspot! Maybe we’[ll all read other people’s pieces from the book, to mix it up! Yeah!
Don’t cry, east coasters. We will be in New York City at Dixon Place on May 17th, and then will be back in the area for an event at the Brooklyn Museum on June 1st! We’ll also be dashing up to Hudson, for an event at The Spotty Dog on May 19th.
I’m VERY psyched for an event at A Room of One’s Own in Madison, which has one of my favorite bookstore Instagram accounts (along with Stories in LA an Verbatim in San Diego) on May 22nd, and after that all us sluts will pile into a car and zoom over to Chicago for an evnt at Women and Children First on May 23rd. Then I go home! But it’s going to be a real Hot Slut Summer, as I set something up in Baltimore in July, and unleash sluttery on Boston and Provincetown in August. So stay tuned! Come out and see us! Buy the book and wave it around on the internet! And support our work with a purchase of a limited edition SLUTS VIP Box!
Just subscribed and this is clearly the content I'm here for.
Can't believe I missed Slut Day!
